Carryout Settings Question

Postby PSUHUSKY » Fri Sep 04, 2009 6:12 am

Hello All,

If you wouldn't mind helping this brand new Carryout user and overall Satellite beginner.

In the manual it says the Directv receiver must be set to Oval 2 and if that isn't an option select Oval 3. My problem is going through the choices on my standard receiver Oval 2 or 3 aren't selection choices.

There are about 15 choices but none of them are oval 2 or 3. They are more specific like 3lnb or slimline 3, slimeline 5, 18x26 @ 72.5, etc....

Is there another name that means the same thing as oval 2 or 3?

Thanks for helping this newbie.

You want the 3LNB, Multidat switch.

THere are so many choices on the new DIRECTV receivers that its hard for me to keep up, so don't feel bad.

Your unit might fail the receiver's tests but go ahead and use it, it will work on that setting.

Thank you very much for your help. It's amazing how easy that whole "set-up" was for someone who doesn't really know much about it. Great product!!

Hopefully my last question, but when I take this away from home (about 2.5 hours away) do I need to go into my receiver settings and change the zip code? I know you would have to do that with a manual dish to get the dimensions to point at, but wasn't sure if it was neccessary for the Carryout.

Thanks again.

You have most likely figured this out by now but no. With the Carryout, you can have any zip code entered into the receiver. You just need something to keep the receiver from hanging up on this in the set up mode.
