How can the carryout be made secure so that it would not become a carryoff? That would be my biggest fear of having one of these.....I have been in campgrounds that people had their sat. dishes a log way from their camper in order to clear the trees.

I too share this concern. It seems like a great product, yet it has been slammed by some critics for not having incorporated stock (available) cords with power lines integrated, so a separate power line would not have to be run...will they modify or provide a kit to modify this condition? On the other subject...maybe a built-in alarm with a code for the user?

The best way to secure the Carryout is probably by using some sort of chain or cable and routing it through the handle and locking/securing it that way. That would mean someone "just passing by" wouldn't be able to just disconnect the cables and walk off, they would at least need to have tools with them.

One of the main reason we do not use a cable with the power and coax integrated is in some cases the two wires will not be going to the same location and we wanted users to have that flexibility.

Regarding the alarm, it is something we considered during development. With the way the Carryout is designed however, we do not have any Controller Box inside the vehicle. There are many alarm systems available at a reasonably low price already, including some alarms that are motion activated.

I'm curious and want to know. Does anyone have the "new" carryout satellite by Winegard? How does it work for you?
I have a Vue Cube for almost a year,and went to use it,it doesn't work. They say it's broken(remote).
We travel in our work 99.9% of the time,and I want something SIMPLE.
So if you have one,please reply and let me know how you like it. Is it as easy as the sales rep say?

Regarding types of locks:

Winegard doesn't officially have a "recommended" product, but I have heard of RVers using a product similar to this:

You can probably find one online for around $25. I have no experience with that lock/alarm, and cannot vouch for its reliability or quality, but have heard of others using it, so I assume it does what it advertises.

For the poster wanting something SIMPLE, it doesn't get any easier than the Carryout. I'm sure a user will come along and post their experiences with the system, but all you have to do is connect the cables and you'll be watching TV in less than 2 minutes.

I made the plunge, and bought one (a carry out)....seems to work fine, with one issue. As a test, I'm using my home's deck as a base. I'm using a new receiver with a new card. It finds the sat., fine-tunes, and seems to shut-off, but then every 2-10 minutes, it makes another mechanical whirring sound, as if it's been moved, but it hasn't. Is this normal?

Just an update on my experiences with the CarryOut. Level of output was about only at 50, but a picture could be produced that was acceptable. The problem was with Dish Network. They had to send a guy back out to call the main routing person, and turn-on the receiver for the second time. Now, all channels come in fine. Sorry to note that the manual says it will not work in transit, as the ad seems to imply...guess that's a minor drawback.
It would be nice if Winegard provided two plastic cord wrapping devices (about a $1 each retail!)...I bought two, and these work great at keeping the cords straight and organized, and compact...just throwing 100' of line in the box is not too cool in this price range.....otherwise, this unit seems well-engineered and durable, so for the price, it leaves everything in the dust.
Also, nobody should be confused about compatibility restrictions between the two major servers...the unit opens-up in minutes, and micro switches just need flicking...a 5 minute job! Directions are very clear with illustrations.
Love to hear if anyone has been successful at pulling-in stations while on the road?
