Yes, that video switch can be used in a residence. You just need to find a way to provide the unit with 12V power. The power is both for the antenna amplifier and the RF Modulator in the video switch. You will need the modulator.
VCR can be connected any number of ways but the easiest would be to use the AUX port if it is open.
