SS-3000 - Choppy Digital
Date Modified: 2009-04-21

Question:
I purchased a Winegard SS-3000 antenna and I have a question about my digital channels. Occasionally a channel will break up, by this I mean the picture would become pixelated. The image will also freeze or become choppy. Same with the sound, but if I change the station, then go back, the picture is ok for awhile. What should I do?

Tech Tip:
It is possible that with the built in amplifier in the SS-3000 you are actually over driving the converter box with too much signal which will cause it to drop signal, tile, pixellize, and go searching for signal just as if you do not have enough signal. You can order a TA-8700 adjustable attenuator from your local dealer. Use our dealer locator to find a dealer in your area. Install this attenuator ahead of your converter box and reduce the incoming signal to see what happens.
