Sensar (Batwing) - Hit a Tree!
Date Modified: 2009-01-31

Question:
Your product came with my RV and works very well. Unfortunately I left the antenna in the raised position and hit a tree branch when leaving an RV park so now it won't raise or lower without manually lifting and pressing on the antenna mast while someone inside the coach cranks it. Despite the raising / lowering issue the antenna still works and provides good reception. However I would like to now take it apart and repair the problem but can not tell from the online schematics how to remove the gear housing from the base plate to get at the elevating gear. Can you offer any advise?

Tech Tip:
To get to the gears, remove the crank handle from the inside before going on the roof. Then find the plug plastic bolt on the top of your gear housing. Remove this bolt and you should be able to ‘unscrew’ the worm gear from the gear housing. With this removed, you just need to pull the pins holding the masts to the housing. You will more than likely need both of the gears inside the elevation housing.
