I have a problem with an older Winegard dish, Model RM-9946. When I activate it to search for the satellite it gets to some position, possibly a limit, and bangs on something. I have climbed onto the roof to verify that it is not hitting anything. What is wrong and how can I fix it?
Can you tell if it is banging in rotation or elevation? The RM-9946 is designed so that if it is forced the gears will break as a safety device. There are several things that can cause this. When the gears break it will do what you are describing. We just need to determine which set of gears you need.
