Sensar (Batwing) - Works better off

Question:
We just purchased a new travel trailer with a Winegard amplified antenna installed. When we turn the unit on instead of improving the reception it degrades it. Some stations that were available with the unit off will not come in at all with the unit on. Other stations will become snowy with poor sound when they were clear with the unit off. What could the problem be?

Tech Tip:

The area you are in could have quite a few very strong signals. Lower the antenna and try again. If this improves the reception it is likely that you are getting too much signal. Also check that you have 12VDC on the coax cable where it connects to the antenna when it is on. If you are not getting the 12VDC this could also be the problem.
