The American Trucker at a Glance

If you connected all the loads that trucks delivered in 2013, the chain would stretch from the earth to the moon more than 11 times. The trucking industry collects $650 billion in annual revenue, pays $35 million in federal, state, and highway use taxes each year, and is expected to grow 21% over the next ten years. There are 3,500,000 truck drivers in the U.S. Of that number, 1/9 are independent, a majority of which are owner operators.
